One For All The Lovers: Something About Polariods & A Horse
One for all the lovers is a little segment that covers everything from wedding day tips, tricks, ideas, inspiration to personal musings. Grab a cup of tea, put your feet up & enjoy!
A couple of nights ago I was doing some late night scrolling through instagram when I came across some deeply exciting news. One of the first couples I had ever shot a wedding of are expecting. My heart burst with joy at the news, like I had just found out about a dear friend.
This lead me to ponder over the last few days how far I had come since shooting their wedding & how many other love stories I have told since. I feel the want to now proceed into a cliché spiel about how lucky I am to have the privilege to capture these moments for people. I realise that this is something that a lot of photographers try to spin as part of their sales pitch but it is honestly coming from a place of sincerity. I have mentioned this before & those that know me can vouch for this (& will probably give up a few embarrassing stories in the process) that I am a sentimental person. I invest a lot of emotion into things. Working in this industry this can be a potentially dangerous thing as it can be hard to separate work & emotion & quite often for me the line can become blurred. But in all honesty, I don’t think I could have it any other way.
So for the times I have shared in the bridesmaids polaroid antics; cried a little that moment the groom saw his bride for the first time; or laughed a lot at the best man’s ridiculous horse & blender jokes; (Or even squeal with joy at the news of pregnancy & proceed to shove my phone in my husband’s face simultaneously as he thought I was going crazy over a spider) from the bottom of a very grateful heart, thank you.
