When Your Pet Is A Guest At Your Wedding

One for all the lovers is a little segment that covers everything from wedding day tips, tricks, ideas, inspiration & personal musings. Grab a cup of tea, put your feet up & enjoy!

Meet Rosie.

I first met Rosie at Susie & Eamon’s engagement session last year. Susie contacted me about shooting their wedding in Monkey Mia but with a big point being that I had to be okay with Rosie being a part of the whole thing.

Having our own fur baby I totally understood & actually LOVE the idea! It is such a great way to personalize your day, especially if you have a pet that holds a special place in your lives.

There are many way you can have your pet included in your wedding & if it something you like the idea of but are not sure where to start, here are a few to consider:

Engagement Photos- Incorporate your pet into your engagement session. You might have a lifestyle session at home, bring your dog along to the beach or plan the entire shoot around your beloved furry friend.

Bride/groom prep- If you have chosen a venue or location that just simply does not accommodate for pets, have your fur baby apart of your prep shots. They can also be a great for providing additional cuddles to help calm your morning of jitters.

Flower girl/ring bearer/bridal party member- Is your pet practically your child? Then maybe having them as apart of your ceremony might be a great option for you that will reflect you as a couple. There are some great companies who can help look after your dog if they are easily excited or distracted, such as My Pet Attendant.

Bridal portraits- I always try as much as possible to make the bridal portraits as much about the couple as possible. How adorable would it be to have your hound in your bridal portrait hanging on your wall or featured on your thank you cards?

Decor- If you are struggling to come up with a theme for your wedding that is also personalized to suit you, including your pets as part of your decor may be an option. What about different pets as table numbers/names or acrylic blocks with photos from your engagement session? Maybe even just something as small as a nod towards your love for animals in your cake topper or a donation to your favorite animal charity in lieu of bonboneries.

How did you incorporate your pet into your wedding day? I would love to hear any other creative ideas!
